Discover Angkor temples, Siem Reap highlights, the pride of the Khmer

TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Siem Reap arrival – Discover Roluos Goup – Angkor Wat (L)
In the morning: upon arriving in Siem Reap airport, you are welcomed by our local tour guide and transferred to your hotel. After short relax, we will shortly start visiting the temples. In this morning, we discover Roluos Group Temples including three temples: Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei, 15km South-East of Siem Reap tow, they are close together and extend over an area of 3km east of Great Lake The temples were built from the early of Angkor Period (802-1431). Preah Ko temple was built by king Indravarman I in 879. Bakong was built in 881. And Lolei was built by king Yasovarman I in 893. The three temples belonging to this important group have similarities of architecture, decoration materials and construction methods which combine to reveal the beginning of “Classic Period of Khmer Art”. Lunch will be served at a local Restaurant.
 In the afternoon, you will explore the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat which is the largest temple in Angkor site, Angkor Wat was built by King Suryavarman II (1113 – 1150). He was a great king who ruled Cambodia during the glorious time of the Khmer Empire. King Suryavarman II fought against Champa and Vietnam (1150) during his reign and we do not know the date of his death. His successor probably was king Dharanindravarman II Angkor Wat is dedicated to God ‘Vishnu’. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel.
Day 2: Siem Reap – Angkor Thom –Bayon, Preah Khan (B)
After breakfast, we will visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphuon, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, and Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace. Angkor Thom in Khmer language it means “Great City” located in present day Cambodia, was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late twelfth century by King Jayavarman VII. It covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors. Lunch at local restaurant on your own account.

In the afternoon, you will start with a visit to Preah Khan temple, which was known as an old temporary city of king Jayavarman VII (1181-1218). You will continue to Neak Pean Temple, which was one of the 102 ancient hospitals of King Jayavarman VII who built this hospital temple for taking care people’s health. Mebon and Pre Rup temple will be visited later on. These two temples were built by the same king ‘Rajendra Varman II (944-967) to dedicate his ancestors.

Day 3: Siem Reap – Discover temples-waterfall-mountain climbing (B)

Departure to the north of Siem Reap to visit the citadel of woman – Banteay Drei – jewel indisputable of the Khmer art: entirely have been constructed by hard pink sandstone, wonderfully sculpted, perfectly preserved and restored. Then you will drive to Kbal Spean, to visit Thousand Linga River and waterfall. The small Lingas were carved a long the river bed to symbol of Ganga River. It take 45 minutes to climb 2 kilometers to the top of Mountain.

In the afternoon, on the way back going on to Ta Prohm. The temple which was built in 1186 by King Jayavarman VII (1181-1218). Temple was invaded by Jungle about 500 years old. The Hollywood Movie star ‘Angelina Jolie’ took her movie here “Tomb Raider”.

Day 4: Siem Reap-explore Koh Ker, Beng Mealea- Preah vihear Resort (B, L)
Today we will drive to the North-East of Siem Reap (130KM) to visit the group of Koh Ker Temples. You will discovery ancient capital of Cambodia during the 10th century. Jayavarman IV (922-944) built Prasat Thom on 7 storey Pyramidal base.
 This afternoon, you will visit Beng Mealea Temple which is built in the 12th century. It is the one was invaded by jungle. The temple was a model of building of Angkor Wat in Angkor site. Then you are going on to discovery about O Thmor Dab ‘Quarry’, the quarry of all temples in Cambodia. You will see the traces of Khmer ancestors cut the sand stone to build all temples in the areas. You will continue to Preah Vihear. Overnight in Preah vihear Resort.
Day 5: Preah Vihear – Siem Reap (B)

Early morning, you will visit the wonderful temple of Preah Vihear, which was built atop the mountain near the border of Thailand – Cambodia. The tour will depart early in the morning and be completed later in the evening by returning to Siem Reap for accommodation. Temple of Preah Vihear, which took over 300 years to complete construction by some khmer famous kings, was first constructed from 893 by King Yasovarman who led the country from 889 to probably 910. The majority of the building of the temple was created by King Suryavarman I (1002 – 1049) and finally the temple was completed during the reign of Great King Suryavarman II (1113 – 1150), the famous king who was the founder of the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap province. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel.

Day 6: Siem Reap – Phnom Kulen (B,L)

Today, You will drive to Phnom Kulen “Kulen Mountain”, it is about 60km from Siem Reap. you will visit Thousand Linga River, carving on river bed, Grand Reclining Buddha, and enjoy your swimming at waterfall. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel

Day 7: Siem Reap – Great Lake Tonle Sap (B,L)

This morning you will be out for a visit by boat, you will discovery the great lake Tonle Sap: real Interior Ocean where there are a lot of fish which exported by the multiple villages of fishermen who you have got the occasion to approach. You will visit as well Preak Toal floating village and bird sanctuary. Overnight in Siem Reap hotel.

Day 8: Siem Reap – Cooking class, visit villages-Departure (B, L)

Today you will have a cooking class in a restaurant school, you will learn how to make a good Khmer foods at your home when return. Lunch at the class.

Afternoon, you will take pleasure in the Cambodian Cultural Village. This is one of the best performances of Khmer culture in Cambodia. In Cambodia, both Khmer, ethnic and Chinese cultural shows are presented in different beautifully-decorated villages and there are also various dance shows, wedding ceremonies and Khmer & Chinese circuses that are performed by Khmer dancers including as many as 50 to 200 people.
