Day 2 – Angkor Complex Biking Tour (25 km ride) (B, L)

Optional: early birds can enjoy a cool morning weather and admire the triple towers of the Angkor Wat at the sunrise moment. Join in the crowds to take amazing pictures and return to your hotel for breakfast. Then We start our adventure today by setting out to explore the mysterious temples of Angkor and cycle the quiet back roads to Angkor Thom. This was the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII.

From here, continue to Bayon Temple in the exact center of the city. This 12th century masterpiece is a study in grandeur and is well-known for its fifty-four towers with enigmatic faces representing the fifty-four provinces of the Great Khmer Empire.

Return later to the famous Angkor Wat. Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is constructed following the model of the temple mountain symbolizing Mount Meru, the home of the gods.. Construction is thought to have taken around thirty years of intensive labor. Today, Angkor Wat is figured on Cambodia’s national flag as the temple symbolizes the soul of the Khmer people.

Next, have a visit to Ta Prohm temple, built in the mid 12th to early 13th centuries. Ta Prohm is unique in that it has been left largely as it was found: overgrown by jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground. Return to Siem Reap hotel.

Day 3 – Siem Reap – Beng Mealea temple – Koh Ker (90 km ride) (B,L,D)

Today we leave Siem Reap for Dom Dek by a drive where the team and bike are ready for you to start ride to the north east. We are to pass lovely countryside and the further we go, the villages become more remote and simpler. We spend most of the ride on dirt roads and trails, but the first section is on black top as we approach the temple of Beng Mealea.  Feel like an explorer when you discover the completely overgrown temple. Undiscovered for centuries, Beng Mealea has only recently been made accessible and remains unrestored. It is one of the very few temples that adventurers can climb through. Take a trek through the jungle ruins and beyond. From here, continue to the fabulous ancient capital, Koh Ker, built in around 922 AD. Koh Ker is an ensemble of around 70 temples and houses as well as the highest pyramid style temple of Cambodia. This amazing archaeological site, located in a remote area, is on its way to being classified by Unesco’s World heritage.  Tonight we enjoy dinner and stay with local family in Koh Ker village.

Day 4 – Koh Ker – Preah Vihear ( 92 km ride) (B,L,D)

Once more the scenery is completely different. After a short early morning transfer, cycle downhill toward to Preah Vihear temple. The routes again are quiet, nice and enjoyable. We stop for lunch half way before reaching Preah Vihear temple. The ancient king of this area built the temple on the top of the hill to better worship the Hindu gods. On arrival at Preah Vihear Temple you will be rewarded with fabulous views over Cambodia’s and Thailand’s fertile plains. The impressive ruins reach skyward to nearly 500 meters perched on the edge of cliffs with amazing views over the seemingly endless Cambodian jungle to the south. The temple is not yet restored but has spectacular carvings and lintels which are almost as splendid as those at Banteay Srei. Dedicated to the god Shiva, the temple is thought to have been constructed in the reign of Suryavarman I (1002-50), with further significant additions by Suryavarman II (1113-50). The spectacular location with a unique temple design is the reason UNESCO enlisted Preah Vihear as World Heritage Site. Transfer back to Preah Vihear town for check in at hotel.

Day 5 – Preah Vihear – Anlong Veng – Siem Reap (85 km ride) (B,L)

This morning, we start our ride in the early morning to Anlong Veng province. We experience more rural sights and sound as we cycle the endless jungle. Upon arrival at Anlong Veng, we visit Ta Mok’s house and his headquarters. Ta Mok was the general commander of the Khmer Rouge. He was arrested in 1998 after Pol Pot died and later on died in prison. Then visit Pol Pot’s grave on the hill side. Pol Pot was the top leader of the Khmer Rouge. After lunch at Anlong Veng province, we are transferred directly to Siem Reap. Overnight in hotel
