About Mai Chau (Mai Châu)
Mai Chau is a rural district of Hoa Binh province in the Northwest Vietnam. The district is located at about 150 km from Ha Noi. The scenery of Mai Chau attracts many tourists. The Mai Chau area is well known for its stilt houses. The type of stilt houses, or pile dwellings, they construct are called Thai stilt houses and are made of bamboo and timber. These houses are elevated 10-12 feet off the ground in order to avoid water damage and shelter animals from the elements.

Trip Itinerary:
Your Mai Chau Day tour starts this morning with a pickup at your hotel in city center in our comfortable van. Depart Hanoi and head to Mai Chau valley, enjoy a scenic mountain drive through Hoa Binh city. Enjoy a short break en route with some refreshment and photo opportunities. We reach Mai Chau valley at noon time, go for a walk around Ban Lac village of the White Thai people. Put your camera on hand to capture special moments of the local farmers with their daily routine, their wonderful houses-on-stilt. We may visit some Thai families to see how they organize their lives and house-style looks like and chat with them as well. After that, enjoy a traditional lunch with a host family. Next, take a bicycle ride with your local tour guide, see farmers working in fields, locals weaving scarves and visit surrounding peaceful villages. This afternoon, leave Mai Chau and drive back to Hanoi. End of your Mai Chau day tour.
