Vietnam Photography Adventures Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi drive to Moc Chau (211 KM)
In the morning, we start at 08.00 AM from Hanoi Hotel for 6 hours drive along road No.6. We will have a lunch break along the way.
In the afternoon, we arrive in Moc Chau at 02.00 PM, check in a local hotel, freshen up and short rest.
The rest of afternoon is for taking photo of the surrounding area, featured with high mountains, evergreen tea plantation on terraced fields. Overnight in hotel Moc Chau town
Day 2: Moc Chau drive to Nghia Lo (150 km)
In this morning we spend about 2 hours for photography in Moc Chau.
After that we check out hotel and leave Moc Chau at 10.00 AM for 4 hours road transfer to Nghia Lo. There are several photo stops along the way. Landscapes are composed by high mountains, valleys with rice fields and tea plantation plus beautiful villages of the Thai and Tay ethnic groups.
Arriving in Nghia Lo in mid afternoon, we spend the rest of the afternoon for photography of the valley surrounding Nghia Lo Township. Overnight in hotel Nghia Lo town
Day 3: Nghia Lo drive to Mu Cang Chai (92 KM)
Today we check out hotel early at 07.30 AM and leave Nghia Lo for 90km driving to Mu Cang Chai.
There are several highlights of the landscapes today: The stunning valley of Tu Le; The spectacular Khau Pha mountain pass and especially the terraced rice fields in Mu Cang Chai –the best rice terrace in Vietnam.
The whole morning is for slow road transfer with many stops for taking photo.
Afternoon is for taking photo of the impressive landscapes around Mu Cang Chai. Overnight in hotel Mu Cang Chai.
Day 4: Mu Cang Chai drive to Tam Duong (112 KM)
This morning we leave Mu Cang Chai at about 08.00 AM to transfer to Tam Duong via Than Uyen. It is a long day along the road. This portion of the road runs along the northwest side of Hoang Lien Mountain Range and offers magnificent landscapes which are a combination of highest mountains, marvelous valleys, waterfalls and beautiful streams.
We take many stops and short walks along the way for taking photos of landscapes and local ethnic peoples.
We will arrive in Tam Duong late in the afternoon, check in hotel and relax. Overnight in hotel Tam Duong
Day 5: Tam Duong – drive to Sapa (45 KM)
We start from Tam Duong in mid morning for 2 hours road transfer uphill the Tram Ton Pass-the highest pass in Vietnam to get over the Hoang Lien Son mountain range to the east side. This portion offers probably the most stunning and magnificent scenery of the mountainous region in Vietnam.
We arrive in Saspa town at noon and have lunch break and short rest before leaving for Ta Giang Phinh valley. This is amongst the most beautiful valleys around Sapa, a perfect place for photography tours. Spend the rest hours of taking photo and arriving back to Sapa before it gets dark. Overnight in hotel or home-stay
Day 6: we have a free day today for relax or taking photos around Sapa.
Day 7: Sapa – Bac Ha (109 KM)
Market Tour option: today morning will be arranged for attending one of the ethnic-minority markets: Coc Ly market (on Tuesday), Cao Son market (Wednesday), Lung Khau Nhin market (Thursday), or Bac Ha market (Sunday), Can Cau market (Saturday). Road transfer may takes from 2.5 to 3 hours to the market place depending on the date of the different markets.
Then transfer from the market place to Bac Ha, check in hotel and short rest.
The rest of this afternoon is for photography excursion around Ban Pho and Lau Thi Ngai Valleys. We will be back to hotel when it gets dark. Stay in hotel in Bac Ha.
Day 8: Bac Ha – Xin Man – Hoang Su Phi – Ha Giang – 200 KM
We leave Bac Ha early at about 07.30 Am. The road transfer from Bac Ha to Xin Man which takes the whole morning including many photo stops along the border to China. We have lunch in Xin Man before taking 1.5 hours driving to Hoang Su Phi.
We have a coffee break in Hoang Su Phi before following road 184 for 62KM downhill to Tan Quang. This portion of the tour gets through the famous landscapes of Ha Giang Province featured with marvelous landscapes of the two high mountain ranges: Tay Con Linh and Kieu Lieu Ti (2nd and 3rd highest ones of Vietnam). We arrive in Tan Quang junction when it gets dark after many photo stops along the way. Please focus on the narrow valley at Nam Dich and Nam Son Commune which is 16Km from Hoang Su Phi.
We drive 45km along the road 2 to Ha Giang in the darkness and arriving to Ha Giang at about 08.00 PM, check in hotel, dinner and relax. Overnight in Hotel
Day 9: Ha Giang drive to Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Dong Van (146KM)
We will leave Ha Giang at 08.30 after getting security permission from local police for traveling along border region.
The trip today gets through the famous region of the limestone plateau, passing over 3 stunning mountain passes: Quan Ba, Yen Minh and Pho Cao before driving 32 KM amongst wall-up limestone cliffs. Enjoy many photo stops along the way.
Arriving in Dong Van at about 05.00 PM, we spend an hour to take photo of Dong Van valley before it gets dark. Rocky Plateau hotel – 2 star.
Day 10: Dong Van drive to Meo Vac, Bao Lac (75KM)
Leave Dong Van at 08.00 Am for Meo Vac. The 28km drive offers unforgettable scenery of Vietnam’s famous wonder: The Ma Pi Leng Pass! This portion of the trip may take several hours to cover because it is a cannot-be-missed part.
Have short coffee break in Meo Vac, then take 2 hours road transfer to Bao Lac town let. for lunch break.
The whole afternoon is for taking photo of surrounding area of Bao Lac, especially along the Gam River.
Day 11: Bao Lac – Cao Bang – Tra Linh ( 167KM)
If on 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 of the lunar month, spend 2 hours in the morning to join local tribal peoples at the Bao Lac market where hill tribal peoples in their colorful traditional costumes go to the market for shopping farm produce and socializing with friends.
Then we leave Bao Lac for 137KM to Cao Bang along the upstream section of the Gam River which highlighted with high mountains, deep and narrow valleys and stunning villages of the Nung and San Chay ethnic peoples. Enjoy many photo stops and short walk along the way.
Having a coffee break in Cao Bang before transfer along a narrow tarmac for 30KM to Tra Linh town let. This portion offers scenery of the remote mountainous region and typical dwelling of the Tay ethnic who live in large villages form by traditional houses built on stilts.
Check in local guesthouse and spend the rest of the afternoon to explore the local life.
Day 12: Tra Linh – Ban Gioc – Cao Bang (156KM)
Breakfast and 1 hour in the morning to pay visit to local market in Tra Linh where the Hmong peoples, living in high mountainous region comes early every morning to sell their local products.
We leave Tra Linh for 2 hours road trip to Ban Gioc Waterfall. We will have several stops along the way and about an hour at the Ban Gioc Waterfall which lies right at the borderline and well-known as the most impressive waterfall in Vietnam.
Have lunch break before we process to Nguon Ngao Cave which is famous for its natural beauty as well as historical significance.
Then tour will drive back to Cao Bang via Quang Nguyen district which offers different scenery.
Arriving at hotel at the center of Cao Bang in mid afternoon, we check in hotel and spend the rest hours of the afternoon to explore this charming township. Stay in hotel in Cao Bang town
Day 13: Cao Bang – Bac Can
After breakfast, check out the hotel and we will leave Cao Bang for Bac Can. We will have photo stops along the road. Bac Can is famous for its natural fresh water Lake Ba Be – one of the world’s largest natural lakes. Take a leisure cruise on the lake, discovering caves, waterfall, tribal villages, do some walking in villages. Tonight we stay in home-stay with The Tay Family.
Day 14 Bac Can – Hanoi
